Netflix has removed about 90 video games from its app store in the Vietnamese market after more than a month of being asked to stop releasing them.

According to records, since May 18, many Netflix users in Vietnam said they no longer see the Mobile Game section on the Netflix app when accessing the mobile version of this app.
Previously, on Netflix’s iOS app store, there were more than 90 video game apps, however, now there are only movie viewing and network speed measurement apps, Fast Speed Test.
Meanwhile, on the Android app store, Netflix has 7 apps, including 5 game apps.
If users intentionally access the old links, the message will display: “The app is currently not available in your country”.
Previously, on April 10, the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information (Ministry of Information and Communications) sent an official dispatch to Netflix Company, requesting compliance with Vietnamese laws when providing online video game services.
According to the document, through reviewing and checking online services, the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information, Ministry of Information and Communications discovered that Netflix Company was advertising unlicensed online video games on the Netflix application provided to Vietnamese users and providing many video games on the App Store Vietnam and Google Play Store Vietnam application stores without a license to operate in Vietnam. This behavior violates the provisions of Article 31 of Decree 72/2013/ND-CP dated July 15, 2013 of the Government regulating the management, provision and use of Internet services and online information.
Therefore, the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information has requested Netflix Company to stop advertising and releasing the company’s video games on the Netflix application and on the App Store Vietnam and Google Play Store Vietnam before April 25, 2024. The Department requests that the company strictly comply with the provisions of the law when providing services in Vietnam.
In case Netflix does not comply with the above requirements, the Ministry of Information and Communications said it will coordinate with relevant state management agencies to handle the case in accordance with Vietnamese law.
